Much has been said about digital marketing as many companies are taking not only their advertising campaigns but their marketing online. The most common reasons seen for this are growing visibility and reducing the cost associated with more traditional print and television advertising. Digital marketing is a quickly booming field and for those reasons, it shows absolutely no signs of slowing down. Not only that, but social media networking has become a very economical yet highly effective way of branding and getting the word out.
There are so many options with which to not only create a buzz online about a brand, but also, to network and broaden the scope of any given marketing plans. Looking back on the expense of more traditional forms of marketing- the cost benefit is very clear.
Digital marketing is not simply your corporate website and blog. It isn’t just buying the Pay Per Click ads. More than ever, digital marketing has become a highly evolved and constantly evolving machine of relaying information and doing so in a way that is interesting enough to be shared with others. Why? When you consider that earlier this year, over 40 million small to mid size businesses had active pages on Facebook, and more than 800,000 websites had Facebook connect built right in- it seems as though there must be some motivating factor driving the push towards digital marketing. That driving push can be summed up neatly in the next statistic- 70% of bloggers as of early 2010 were organically talking about brands in their blogs. This is a result of digital marketing- the brand information and news is released onto the ‘web, and it gets picked up and goes viral. So, for the small initial monetary investment, and the time investment to run these digital marketing campaigns- much brand awareness is created without every even having to spend a dime or put anymore effort into the campaign itself.
This is not to say that digital marketing is an effortless way to go- the online marketing landscape is constantly changing and growing, and so too must your campaigns. However, the growth potential of a digital marketing campaign can be extremely vast and a tremendous asset in terms of cutting the budget without really losing impact.
